Immediate Feedback for Accuracy During ExperimentsAn ideal enhancement of Hess’s Law experiments, this software allows students to input data as the lab is performed. An immediate feedback function then alerts students of any erroneous data, so they can repeat the experiment for better results. Following the lab’s completion, students can process their own data in addition to the data of other student groups and classes, using the class average values to deliver more precise results without the levels of uncertainty in measurement often found in individual outcomes. The average values provide a convincing validation of Hess’s Law, which all students are able to cite and record. The program also produces a graph for all three reactions, revealing how individual results compare to recorded values of reaction DH. The software packages include a comprehensive teacher’s guide with suggestions for improving student results and student data sheets.
