Seven known solutions are mixed in any of 21 possible combinations and then observed to note color changes, precipitates and gas generation. Advanced students can be asked to write the probable chemical equation for each reaction. The kit contains 12 Chemplates with spatulas and two drop bottles each of hydrochloric acid, sodium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, potassium chromate, calcium chloride, sodium sulfite, copper sulfate and unknown solution. With worksheets and a teacher’s guide, materials are supplied for 12 student groups.
