(EDVO-Kit 203)Bacterial DNA exists in 2 forms: plasmid or chromosomal. Isolation of chromosomal DNA is often the first step in molecular cloning. If carefully extracted, there is a high probability that a gene of interest has remained intact in one of the fragments. The purpose of this kit is to isolate chromosomal DNA with minimum DNA breaks. DNA will be precipitated, spooled onto a glass rod, and then analyzed by electrophoresis. Reagents for 10 gels–2 to 4 students per gel. Includes instructions. Required, but not included: horizontal cell, power supply, water bath, automatic micropipet to deliver 50 ìl, test tubes, beakers (50, 250 mL), graduated cylinders (10, 100 mL), Pipets ( 5, 10 mL), distilled or deionized H2O, 95-100% isopropanol. Highly recommended: staining tray package, visible light box.
