In this experiment, the enzymatic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide will be studied using a calorimetric assay that avoids potential dangers associated with the use of corrosive acid, potassium permanganate and the expense of burettes and syringes. Reaction rates are measured and the effects of such parameters as temperature and substrate concentration are discussed. For 10 lab groups. Duration: 30-45 minutes or one lab period.
