Placed flat on the bench, this light source forms a high quality ray box, equipped with a range of acrylic optical elements. Fitted with the object plate and set on end, it becomes an object/light source for meter stick optical benches. The unit uses a 6V high intensity lamp as the light source, bright enough that rays can be seen easily even in a lit room. Its filament is vertical and parallel with the five slits through which the light escapes at one end, ensuring tight rays. The box is black finished steel vented with multiple slots that dissipate the lamp’s heat. The slots are designed to allow light to escape only toward the ceiling, away from the student’s work surface. The unit comes with instructions that include seven experiments in basic optics and we include complete materials for five of these. The accessories include three acrylic table lenses: double concave, double convex and a plano-convex. We also include a concave/convex metal mirror and an acrylic equilateral prism. For one experiment in the manual, you will need a plane mirror — use any of those we offer — and another calls for a refraction tank — we recommend our catalog number WL3502. The Object Plate image, mounted in a 35mm slide frame, and four color filters — red, orange, green and blue are provided for optical bench use. Complete with a three-wire cord, plug and fuse for use with 115 VAC 50/60 Hz.
