Now you can measure melting point temperatures easily and economically. This apparatus consists of an aluminum alloy cylinder 6.3cm diameter by 5cm high with a slanted hole drilled in the top for a thermometer. Sprinkle the sample you’re testing on the top of the block, then heat gently with a Bunsen burner. The thermometer lets you easily record the temperature at which the substance melts.
