This 3D model of the sun and the nine planets is designed to teach planet identification and to promote understanding of sizes, distances and speeds at which planets travel around the sun. It also demonstrates which planets are visible at any given date and why some planets are not visible at certain times of the year. The planets may be set by month to show their positions in relation to the sun. It can also demonstrate the reasons for evening and morning “stars.” The sun is mounted on a pedestal marked for season and month with colored planets on movable orbit arms at appropriate relative distances from the sun. The sun is 6" in diameter and the outer planet is 18" from the sun. An informative instruction manual is included.
