Investigate the resonance of air columns. Apparatus is an 80cm long transparent tube mounted on a stand.
A movable reservoir is attached by rubber tubing to the bottom of the resonance tube, for adjusting the height of water in the tube. Fill the reservoir with water, strike a tuning fork and hold it immediately above the top of the resonance tube.
Adjust the water level until the sound reaches maximum loudness.
A tuning fork is required.
