Demonstrate the characteristics and functions of buffer solution with this student experiment. Students prepare three buffer solutions with different pH values. These solutions are then exposed to small amounts of acids or bases, and students examine any variance in the buffer pH after exposure. Water is also exposed to the same acids and bases, as a means of comparison, and student hypothesize the effects of the acids and bases on the water. Kit includes necessary materials, chemicals, and instructions for 15 lab groups.
