In this forensic activity, students will use biotechnology applications to compare DNA at a crime scene with that of two suspects. Using agarose gel electrophoresis, they'll cut plasmid DNA with restriction enzymes, and then compare banding patterns to match the evidence with the suspect. Ready-to-Load DNA samples are included for fast, convenient sample setup. Kit also includes Standard DNA Fragments, Dryzymes® - Eco RI and Hind III, various solutions & buffers, plasmid DNA, enzyme grade water, agarose powder, FlashBlue™ Stain.

Requires the use of an electrophoresis apparatus, power supply, automatic pipette with tips, waterbath, balance, microwave or hot plate, visualization (white light), lab glassware, pipette pumps or bulbs, metric rulers, floating racks, distilled or deionized water, and ice.
