With its unique chain and gear drive system, this giant Earth model can be used to demonstrate how the tilt of the Earth causes both seasonal change and the length of day and night to change. Mounted on the globe is a solar cell with digital display that is used to measure the amount of “radiation” that part of the Earth receives from the “Sun” (the included flashlight) during each season of the year. The 23.5° tilt can be righted which allows students to measure the radiation again to compare with their original findings. Unit measures 124.5cm x 40.6cm x 55.9cm. Developed by Claire Zurbuch.
